Meet the Board of Directors

The Board of Directors shall number a minimum of ten and not exceed fifteen members. Nominees shall be presented to the board for approval by the nominating committee, with a majority vote of the board determining their election to serve.  Each director shall be elected to a term of three (3) years. There is no limit to the number of terms to which a director may be elected.

The Board holds two regular meetings during the year. The winter meetings typically take place in February at a location to be determined by the Board. The summer meetings take place at the location of the NSA’s Annual Conference, the day before the Conference.

Current members of the board are:

Ernie Canadeo - Board Chairman, elected in 2009.  Ernie has been an NSA member for over a decade and has served on the NSA board of directors for 6 years.  Ernie’s involvement with the NSA, in addition to marketing and fundraising, has included being the creator of NSA Kids and Stutter Buddies. He has worked hard to increase the number of families reached by the NSA, and as a result the NSA has more than tripled the number of families attending its conferences in the past 3 years, and dramatically increased the number of programs available to them.  He has just initiated the NSA Research Symposium which will become an integral part of the NSA’s annual conferences, and is placing a greater emphasis on the need for more research into the causes and treatment for stuttering.  Ernie is the founder and President of The EGC Group, an advertising and marketing agency based in Long Island New York, and lives with his wife and twin boys in Oyster Bay Cove, Long Island.   Email is ernie@egcgroup.com.  (2012)
